Apple TV3 audio drops out

Question

Apple TV3 audio drops out

AppleTV 3 is connected to a Harmon Kardon amp. during the evening audio from the ATV just drops out. Restarting the ATV via the plug is the only cure.

All other functions on the amp work fine; I have moved the aTV to another input previously working without issue (with Tivo). It's not the cable; not WiFi; not the amp; and I have updated the ATV 3 software.

Anybody have ideas before I take it to a Genius?

Hello Michael,

I understand that your Apple TV seems to be dropping audio until you restart the device by removing the power cord. Prior to taking it to the Genius Bar you might consider restoring your Apple TV via iTunes as detailed in the article linked below.

More: I replaced the v3 with v2 ATV; same cables and spatial position. And I've noticed that the audio disappears after I forward or reverse. Thats the only trigger I'm noticing.

THe the audio drop is system wide - no audio cues when moving between providers in home screen for instance.

ONly fix is reboot. The v3 boots much faster than v2, though.
